HUGE SURFTAG WEEKEND COMING UP ON SYDNEY’S NORTHERN BEACHES

Thursday 16^th October 2025 – Manly, Sydney.

Sydney’s Queenscliff and South Curl Curl Beaches will play host to this weekend’s TITAN FORD WOMEN’S & MASTERS SURFTAG as well as the rescheduled GYG GROMMETS SURFTAG. It’s set to be a huge weekend of club surfing with the 2025 SURFTAG SERIES Champions being crowned on Sunday afternoon at South Curl Curl Beach.

Queenscliff Boardriders Club go into the weekend as the team to beat and sit on top of the rankings ahead of neighbouring club North Steyne with Long Reef and North Narrabeen tied in third position. Queenscliff won the GYG JUNIOR SURFTAG held in classic conditions last month and finished third in the RJ THOMAS SOLICITOR MEN’S SURFTAG in August.

North Narrabeen Boardriders are the defending SURFTAG SERIES Champions and will be looking for some big results from their Women’s and Grommets teams who won their Divisions last year. Long Reef Boardriders is also in the hunt to win the SERIES and lift the SURFTAG Shield for the third time after winning in 2022 and 2023.

SURFTAG SERIES Contest Director Steve Harrison is really looking forward to Sunday, “Saturday is going to be a massive day with ten hours of surfing that will finish with the Women’s Final”, Harrison said. “Sunday will also be huge with the Groms final in the morning and the Masters Final the last heat of the day, it will be interesting to see if the series is decided in the Masters Final or if one of the leading clubs secures victory earlier in the day”.

Saturday will kick-off with the early rounds of the GYG GROMMETS SURFTAG with the TITAN FORD WOMEN’S SURFTAG scheduled to start at midday and run thru to the Final at 5.00pm. Sunday will start with the Grommets Semi’s and Final followed by the TITAN FORD MASTERS SURFTAG (Over 40’s) Quarters, Semi’s and Final at 3.30pm.  

The 2025 SURFTAG SERIES will see up to five hundred surfers represent their local Boardriding Club in five Divisions – Men’s, Grommets, Juniors, Women’s and Masters with $30,000 in prize money and prizes on offer.
